Antonio Cordón, new Real Betis director of football
This globally renowned professional joins the Green and White board
Real Betis Balompié has signed Antonio Cordón as the Club's new director of football until June of 2024. Antonio Cordón Ruiz (Badajoz, Spain, 1963) has developed his entire career around sports. He is a physical education teacher and football coach. He also holds an International Masters Degree in Sports Law and Management by the ISDE. He began his career in top-flight football as a scout for Villarreal CF. He was the coordinator of the football area, the Youth teams and, later, became director of football. During this time, the era of biggest success was with Manuel Pellegrini as head coach.
In 2016, he was signed as director of football at AS Monaco. With him in charge, the team from the Principality won the Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals, generating a increased value of the squad.
One and a half years later, he joined Hope Group as CEO. To this holding with Chinese capital belong Granada CF, Parma Calcio, CD Tondela and Chongqing Dangdai Lifan. Cordón achieved significant sporting successes in these counties.
