MATCH REPORT | Joaquín is eternal (2-1)

The skipper netted a brace in the last match at home of the season

Real Betis Balompié beat SD Huesca 2-1 in the last match of the season at Benito Villamarín Stadium. The man of the match was Joaquín, as the skipper scored the two goals that gave the team the three points. The away side scored through a penalty taken by Juanpi.

In a quite hot afternoon, the game went underway. The first chance came early, when Guardado finished a corner delivered from the left, but his shot when just wide.

The Green and Whites were looking for the goal chance after chance and the next one was a header from Loren that went over the bar. A few moments later, Joaquín found the back of the net with a precise header to the bottom right corner.

Huesca had their best minutes before half time, with one clear chance. Melero hit the post from close range in the most dangerous occasion for the visitors in the whole first half. Tello got close to increasing the lead before the whistle, but Jovanovic saved his effort after a good run.

The second half began with bad news for Betis, when the referee whistled for penalty after checking in the VAR a tackle from Feddal on Juanpi inside the area. Juanpi scored from the spot and tied the game up. Real Betis wanted to react and had a couple of good chances through Tello and Lo Celso.

Jovanovic made a providential save to a close-range effort from Loren. Fifteen minutes before the end, the away team got a man sent off. Pulido kicked Guardado in the chest and was shown a yellow card. However, the referee watched the play again in the VAR and changed his decision and showed a red card to the defender.

When time was almost over, Joaquín produced a phenomenal shot from outside the box to the top left corner, making the final 2-1.
