Defeat for Betis B who drop back into second place in the classification (2-1)

Oscar Cano's players lost by one goal in the closing stages of the match having equalised the match with a goal by Varela in the 78th minute.

On Thursday, Betis B failed to hold on to the top spot in the classification after being defeated in the last seconds of the match against Sevilla by 2-1. Thus, with just two match days left in the season San Roque de Lepe regained their leadership after beating Coria by 1-4, and now lead Betis by just one point.

The match started badly for the team from Heliopolis who saw their rivals get an early lead on the scoreboard, almost on their first incursion on the area defended by Javi Montoya. Raul put a cross into the centre of the area where an unmarked Jesus pushed the ball into the back of the net (1-0). Sevilla's pressure was intense and made it difficult for Oscar Cano's men to get the ball out of their half. However, Betis's drive mitigated this pressure as the minutes went by and whilst it is true they lacked depth in their offensive plays. Marc Mas, Moyita and Kevin tried their best on different occasions, Kevin's effort almost coincided with the whistle that indicated the end of the first half and 1-0 on the scoreboard.

Betis B continued their search for their opponents goal right from the beginning of the second half against a rival who was holding back in defence waiting for any opportunity to go on a counter-attack. Juanma gave a warning shot in the first minute of the second half but lacked accuracy. Oscar Cano made some moves to on the bench and Alex Alegria went on for Marc Mas who was very much a marked man by the home team's defenders. Just a few minutes later it was Jaime Isuardi who came on to take the place of Moyita. The team from Heliopolis had a number of free kicks close to this to Sevilla's area in the second half, and one of those facilitated the equaliser. In the 78th minute and on the threshold of the area, Varela shot avoided the wall and Néstor's stretch to save levelling the match (1-1). However, in the 90th minute of the match, just when it seemed that a draw was going to be the final result, Salvi scored the second goal for the home team when he put away a waist height centre from the left wing A defeat for Betis B who will receive the visit of CD Mairena next Sunday at the Luis del Sol Training Centre, in a duel that once again will be decisive in their fight for the top slot of the classification.
