Remarkable participation by the Heliopolis Academy teams in the Easter tournaments

Thirteen teams from the Real Betis Balompié Academy have competed over the last few days in different locations around the geography of Spain.

This Sunday the last of the youth team football tournaments, in which teams from the Real Betis Balompié Academy participated, finished. Taking advantage of the break in their respective league championships thirteen teams from the Heliopolis Academy participated in different competitions over the Easter period and in general they did very well. This claim is backed up by the four championship titles three runners-up positions as well as the great performances by each and every one of the green-and-white teams in general.

 

Mundialito

The three representatives from Real Betis Balompié performed magnificently in the prestigious Mundialito, a week-long tournament held in the Portuguese town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio and the Spanish town of Ayamonte in Huelva. So, Betis U12 A were runners-up after losing in the final to Sporting Clube de Portugal (0-2), whilst Betis U8 A won the championship brilliantly thrashing FC Barcelona by 5-0. For their part, Betis U8 lost in the semifinals against Atlético de Madrid (2-5). However, it was a successful expedition by the Heliopolis teams in the classic tournament which every year brings together teams from different countries.

 

CD Vera Youth Football Tournament

Betis U11 B and Betis U10 C travelled to Almeria to compete in the 2nd CD Vera Youth Football Tournament in which they reached the semifinals and quarter-finals respectively. In both cases they were eliminated by older teams. The team trained by Antonio Sevillano lost to the Murcia regional team (1-2), whilst Manuel Martínez's lads were not able to prevail in the quarter-final match against Real Murcia (1-4).

 

Oviedo Cup

Betis U18 A and Betis U16 A entered the fray in the Oviedo Cup and both teams got through to the grand final in their respective categories; what is more against the same rival, Rayo Vallecano. Betis U18 A took the title after beating Rayo Vallecano by 1-0, whereas Betis U16 A when not able to do the same losing in the closing stages of the match (0-1).

 

Íscar Cup

Real Betis U10 B were drawn in a group in which they had to play against Real Valladolid, who they beat 3-0; Atlético Santa Cristina, who beat them 1-2; and Real Madrid, against whom they equalised in a goalless draw in an exciting match. In the consolation round the green-and-whites beat Athletic Club de Bilbao (2-0), lost against Sevilla FC (0-1) and beat the hosts, CD Los Gatos de Íscar, in the definitive match (2-0).

 

Copa Santa (Holy Cup)

Betis U13 B were proclaimed champions in the Holy Cup which was played this weekend on the Barcelona-Maresme coast. José Luis Mena's boys performed magnificently in a tournament in which they won every match, beating the German team SV Memmelsdorf 5-0 in the final.

 

Sa Pobla Cup

Betis U14 A were eliminated in the semifinals of the Sa Pobla Cup by Atlético Baleares, a match that was decided in the penalty shootout (1-2) after regulation time finished in a goalless draw. José Tadeo's boys played an inspired group stage and beat CF E1 Valencia in the quarter-finals.

 

Casar de Cáceres Football 11 Tournament

The U16 team that Real Betis Balompié presented in the Casar de Cáceres Tournament concluded their participation by raising the champions cup having beaten Atlético de Madrid in extra time (2-0). In the semi-final match the green-and-whites beat Rayo Vallecano (1-0).

 

II Torneo Ciudad de Lepe (2nd Tournament of the town of Lepe)

Betis U9 D reached the semifinals in this tournament held in the town of Lepe in the province of Huelva, losing to Sevilla FC by the smallest margin (1-2). Prior to that the team coached by Alberto Martin got through the group stage in which they played Siempre Alegres, AD Los Rosales and RCR Huelva.

 

Torneio Internacional Sub-15 (International U15 Tournament)

Real Betis U15 B were proclaimed some champions in the International U15 Tournament held at Vila Franca do Rosário (Portugal). Juanmi Puentenueva's lads demonstrated their potential by beating SL Benfica (3-2) in the final match of the group stage. However, they were not able to triumph in the final against Sporting Clube de Portugal (1-2).
