Betis U10 A, through to the final of the Andalusian Championship; Betis U12 A to play for third of fourth place

Mixed fortunes for the two green-and-white teams in the semifinals in their respective categories

This Saturday the final phase of the Andalusian Championship for U10 and U12 teams got underway taking place all this weekend at the Pozo Alcón (Jaén) municipal ground. Whilst the day started with a triumph for Betis U10 A allowing the team to progress through to the grand final tomorrow, Betis U12 A were not able to do the same in their semifinal duel this afternoon and will play for the third place.

This morning Fernando Cáceres's lads beat CD Roquetas six goals to one in a match that was practically decided by the end of the first half, when the score was already 5-0. Consequently, Real Betis U10 A will play in the final against Málaga CF tomorrow at 11:15 AM, who beat AD Taraguilla in their semifinal.

In the afternoon session Betis U12 A were not able to beat Ciudad de Granada (3-4). It was an exciting match in which the green-and-whites managed to go ahead on the scoreboard on two occasions (1-0 and 2-1). Manuel Alba's lads tried right up until the final stages of the match but they were not to be rewarded for their efforts and tomorrow they will play CD Puerto Malagueño in the match to decide the runner-up places at 10:00 AM.

Betis U14 A, Betis U12 B and Betis U10 B reap victories in youth football tournaments

In general the week has brought good news, in terms of results, for various teams from the Heliopolis Academy in youth football tournaments. On Friday Betis U14 A were proclaimed champions of the Cotif Youth Cup in Gandía (Valencia) beating Sevilla FC (5-1) in the final. José Tadeo's lads finished the tournament having scored 30 goals and only conceding 2; on their way to the final they beat rivals such as Villarreal CF, the Saudi Arabian team and Albacete Balompié.

Also on Friday, Betis U12 B raised the Ibercup 2014 in Marbella (Málaga). The green-and-whites beat Juventus FC in the grand final, which was decided in a penalty shoot out (reglamentary time only yielding a goalless draw). That was the way the team coached by Antonio Sevillano brought to a close a competition in which they had beaten FC Porto, Seoul Daedong and Belenenses in the knockout matches. Betis U15 B and Betis U9 D also took part in this tournament, but fell in the quarter finals having played remarkably in the initial phase.

On Saturday, Betis U10 B also lifted the trophy in the Guadiana de Vila Real Cup at Santo Antonio (Portugal). The team from Heliopolis beat Recreativo de Huelva ‘A’ five goals to one. 4 ao Cubo, AD Oeiras and Footkart were some of the teams that José María Román pupils had to beat on the way to the final.
