Betis B continue their run of positive results beating CP Cacereño (1-3)

Álex Alegría, Luis Madrigal and Carlos García, the latter with a penalty kick, were the goalscorers for the reserves

Betis B travelled to Extremadura with the endorsement of two consecutive victories, a run of positive results that was prolonged this Sunday beating CP Cacereño by one goal to three. With this new victory, founded on goals by Álex Alegría, Luis Madrigal and Carlos García, the green-and-whites reaffirmed their position in the middle of the standings with 15 points.

In a hard-fought first half it was the team from Extremadura who gave the first warning just three minutes after the kick-off. Elías got into the area and conjured up a shot that Javi Montoya managed to clear for a corner. The match progressed with neither team clearly controlling the run of play, but the home team had more impetus and there were very few encroaches on either of the rivals areas. However, about halfway through the first half, and in just a few minutes, both teams had their best scoring opportunities, featuring Ignacio Abeledo and Toni Sánchez. In the 23rd minute, the Betis striker saw his goal annulled for an alleged offside. In the next piece of play, Toni Sánchez found himself up against Javi Montoya but he was not able to beat him with his 'shot'. Almost immediately after that came the green-and-white response, again featuring Abeledo, who advanced diagonally on the area and shot on target only to encounter Nucho's hand stopping him from opening the scoring. Moments later Toni Sánchez's direct freekick struck the crossbar.

In the opening stages of the second half Toni Sánchez got a second yellow card after bringing Ignacio Abeledo down, leaving CP Cacereño with just ten men on the field of play. Betis B took advantage of this to close their lines and minutes later Álex Alegría opened the scoring for them with an unstoppable header off an accurate centre by Isaac. The team from Extremadura nearly levelled the match in the next piece of play but Javi Montoya, bravely coming out to meet the attack, stopped Piojo's powerful shot. The equaliser eventually came in the 72nd minute when Plata scored off a penalty kick after José Carlos's hand-ball. Betis B quickly recovered from this goal against them by going ahead once again. Álvaro González, who had just come on to the pitch, took on his mark and gave Luis Madrigal an assist on the far post so he could make it 1-2. In the closing minutes of the match Carlos García sentenced the encounter from the penalty spot, for a foul he himself suffered for which Gonzalo received a direct red card. Betis B added a third consecutive victory to their tally prior to next weeks home match against Sevilla Atlético.
