The Betis B squad has been tested to evaluate the players' individual hydration levels

The objective of these tests is to determine individual liquid loss and to investigate the hydration habits of each player during training.

The Betis B squad undertook tests at Wednesday's training session to measure the players' perspiration levels, under the supervision of the Real Betis Balompié Nutrition Unit. The objective of these tests is to determine individual liquid loss and to investigate the hydration habits of each player during training.

The results will enable the Unit to establish individual hydration guidelines which will allow the players to progressively replace the liquids lost during physical activity. In this way possible dehydration will be minimised and as a result minimise any possible loss of performance. Dehydration is one of the main consequences experienced by a player as a result of physical activity such as training and playing in matches. This is caused by excess perspiration and bad habits in liquid replacement during any physical activity and represents one of the main causes of reduced performance. Just a 1% loss in body weight from perspiration will result in the player losing speed of reaction, resistance or concentration in comparison with those levels at the beginning of the physical activity.
