Bruno: "If we push and play wisely, were can compete with all the teams”
“We just got promoted, but we have to show that we are Betis, not an ordinary team”, stated the central defender
Bruno González has spoken today in a press conference. After the team obtained its first victory of the season against Real Sociedad, the centre back talked about the imaged shown by the team and the options of getting a victory against Valencia CF.
Did you take a burden off your shoulders with the victory against Real Sociedad?: “For the victory and because the way it happened. We saw the team playing in the same way as before, but suffering and working all together. Apart from that, we are happy for the three points and because we saw a team that is strong at home. Now we are working hard and eager to play on Saturday.”
How did you feel playing side by side with Westermann?: “He’s got a lot of experience, but Germán Pezzella and Jordi Figueras are also very good. Let’s hope we talk week after week about the team being strong in defense. Heiko has his skills, all of the defenders have more experience than me. Rubén Castro run a lot to defend, Portillo was exhausted of all the work he was doing, and so on all the rest. If we play together, defending with ten men, is difficult to concede a goal. We had many chances when we were 11 on the pitch and we played nicely. In the second half we decided to play in defense, Real Sociedad was pushing hard. Luckily it turned out all right.”
What is it needed to win in Valencia?: “The same we did at home against Real Sociedad and Villarreal CF. Against real Madrid we weren’t good enough and if they also have a good day these things happen. To win we must do what we do every week, working and being excited for the win. In Valencia we’re going for the victory. They are, at least, as good as the other teams we faced so far, so we need to take what we do at home away too.”
Is there a solid squad for a calm season?: “For sure. We want to be in the spotlight. We just got promoted, but we have to show that we are Betis, not an ordinary team. We need to push and be aggressive. If we push and play wisely, were can compete with all the teams. That’s the path we are working on.”
Shareholders meeting on the 23rd of September: “I don’t really know how it works. Last year everything changed suddenly: the manager, the board and the chairman. We have always tried to show that we are professionals with all the things that happen in the Club; and we try to do paly our part, which is training and working. We are focused on doing what we know, the things that happen on the pitch. It’s our duty, to fight on Saturday and keep working. We shouldn’t get distracted because that would mean a burden for us.”
Have you asked other teammates or Club’s employee?: “I’ve asked people who have been here longer than me. It doesn’t matter what I can say, I’m not the best to answer these things. There’s no point of talking about this here.”
