Rubén Castro scored for the team

Real Betis was badly defeated today in its game against Club Atletico de Madrid. In spite of doing a decent first half, the score was 2-0 at half time. The team did an awful second half and the rival was superior in every aspect of the game.

The first fifteen minutes were clearly for Atletico. The home team had begun the game with high intensity. Betis tried to lower the pace of the game and manage to gain some control. The first clear chance for the Green-and-Whites came in the 25th minute after a good combination, but the shot by Ceballos was blocked by Oblak. Betis then improved and had more possession than its rival However, just in that moment, Atletico scored the first goal.

Koke gave a great pass to Torres, who lobbed the ball over Adán to score. Just a few minutes after, Griezmann tried to give a pass to the heart of the box. Adán tried to cleared but missed terribly and the ball went in between his legs. The keeper redeemed his mistake before half time with a great save to a header by Griezmann.

Real Betis had a great chance two minutes after the starting whistle of the second period. Heiko Westermann headed a cross but the ball was deflected by Oblak and then it hit the post. Then, the game started to open up. Betis tried to attack more but in the other end Atletico was waiting to counterattack. And the home team was doing it with danger.

The third goal came after a good assist by Correa to Juanfran, who put the ball past Adán. Rubén Castro scored for Betis in the 78th minute. Damiao sent a cross and Oblak failed to catch it. Betis number ‘24’ was nearby and didn’t miss the chance. However, just two minutes later, Griezmann scored after a pass by Correa. Atletico scored the last goal in the added time after another counterattack.
