Lolo Reyes: “We have to take Betis to First Division and don’t let it get relegated again”

“If we are champions of the division, much better. Betis needs to have high goals, even more if it is in Second Division,” stated the Chilean midfielder

With five matches until the end of the current season in Liga Adelante, Real Betis’ squad is cautious. The team is at the top of the table, with a six point difference with the third, but the team does not consider any kind of relaxation in the upcoming fixtures. In these terms spoke Lolo Reyes in an interview. The player talked about the current season and about what Betis should be in the future.

Victory against RCD Mallorca. The goal, one step closer.
We knew that it was going to be a very difficult match but, luckily, we took the three points. We are quite happy to keep the difference with Girona FC and Real Sporting de Gijón.

The team didn’t feel anxious, in spite of the added pressure of knowing the scores of the rivals.
We know that, until the end, each match is going to be the most important one. We only have finals left. We must think about winning all the remaining matches.

The next fixture is against CD Lugo.
These matches are going to be like a final. There’s no easy team to beat in Second Division, so each one of us has to give his 120 %.

Did you expect Liga Adelante to be so difficult?
It’s a very hard and competitive league. The teams defend really well; I didn’t expect it to be that difficult. We have been wise enough and we are up there that is what we wanted.

The goal is to get promoted directly. You will want to do it as champions.
If we are champions, much better. Betis needs to have high goals, even more if it is in Second Division. We are going to be very happy if we get promoted.

Do you do math to see when promotion is going to happen?
We don’t know where it’s going to be, but we would like to do it playing at home so we can give that thrill to our fans, that had a bad experience last year.

One of the secrets of this squad is the great relationship between the players.
We are a very good group of people, we are quite united. There is a huge competition in all the training sessions, which is really good for everyone. I’m very happy with all my teammates.

Firstly, get promoted. Then, don’t let Betis get relegated again.
Betis has to be in First Division for its history, for its fans, and for everything that is behind the Club. We have to keep it in La Liga for many years, don’t get relegated to Second Division ever again.

You arrived here a year and a half ago, and you are still surprised by Real Betis’ fans.
The crowd has been crucial not just this year, but through the history of Real Betis. It’s shockingly amazing to see how these fans are, they help us a lot.
