MATCH REPORT | Defeat against Atlético de Madrid (1-3)
Tello scored for the team
Bad night for Real Betis Balompié, as the team did not get anything from their game against Atletico de Madrid. The away side took the lead really early in the game, but Betis squared up just before half time. In the second half, Atletico used counterattacks to win the game.
Terrible start of the game for the team, as they conceded a goal in the first minute. Unfortunate action in defence that Correa used to delivered a low ross that Joao Félix finished to an empty goal. Betis had not started well not only in the score, but also in the game itself, struggling to find their pace in the match. Atletico were defending really well and the Green and Whites could clear their lines.
The visiting team was really close to doubling their advantage in the score, but Sabaly showed up to save with a great clearance. From that moment, Betis were much better than their rival and had several chances. Paul was unlucky and missed the target by inches. Bartra sent a header just wide. In the last minute of the added time, Sabaly stole the ball close to Atletico's box and Tello produced a great shot that went past Oblak.
The team started really well in the second half and had two consecutive great chances. Tello was denied by Oblak, and Joaquín almost score from a direct corner kick. The team was having more ball possession and was looking to harm Atletico, who were waiting in defence and trying to counterattack.
In fact, this way came their two goals. First, it was Joao Felix who scored and, near the end, Lemar closed the score.
