MATCH REPORT | Defeat against Elche CF (0-1)

The team was unlucky

Real Betis lost tonight at home against Elche CF. In a game in which the Green and Whites were fairly superior, Elche scored in the final minutes with their only shot on goal of the night.

In the first minutes of the game, the pace was slow and not many chances occurred. The first one was a goal scored by Juanmi that was disallowed for offside. Betis were in control of the ball, but were struggling to clear the opposition lines.

Step by step, the team managed to create clearer chances. Canales had two good consecutive ones, both from outside the box deflected by Badía. Juanmi had the best of the first half after a great team play, but his effort went just over the bar.

In the second half, the team came on with the same idea of attacking. Juanmi delivered a good shot that the keeper sent wide. A few minutes later, Fekir tried his luck but missed the target. Same end found Willian José soon afterwards.

However, in the final minutes, the away side, in their shot on goal, found the net. To make matters worse, in the added time, Paul was sent off after an ugly tackle.
