MATCH REPORT | Oh, Juan Miguel! (3-1)

A hat-trick by Juanmi finishes a great comeback

An afternoon to remember at Heliópolis, as Real Betis fans witnessed an historic hat-trick from Juanmi. The striker, who scored three goals in a single game for the first time in his career, finished a great comeback. After a first half with some doubts, the team reacted really well after half time.

The game started really bad for the Green and Whites, as the away side took only six minutes to score. Mustafi headed in a ball delivered in a corner kick. After the goal, the first half was controlled almost entirely by Betis. The team had several chances, especially the ones by Moreno, Guido and Canales, but could not score.

However, the break was a turning point in the match. Real Betis got back on the pitch with an extra gear and continued controlling the game from the start. The difference was the accuracy in the final metres, especially one man, Juan Miguel Jiménez.

Nine minutes in, Betis' number 7 received the ball inside the area and scored with a curled effort.  Then, in a corner kick, Juanmi smashed the ball after a touch in the near post by Willian José. Ten minutes before the end, the final goal came. Fekir gave a fantastic pass and Juanmi put the ball past Cárdenas. The celebration had to wait as the goal was initially disallowed for offside, but the VAR validated the goal.
