MATCH REPORT | Real Betis is defeated by Deportivo Alavés (1-2)

Joaquín become the second player with most games played in LaLiga history

Bad end of the season at home in the second to last game, as Real Betis fell against Deportivo Alavés. The only positive news were Joaquín's record, as he became the second player with most games played in LaLiga history after goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta.

Three minutes into the game and Betis took the lead, but the goal was disallowed for offside. A few minutes later, the first for the visitors came but Martín made a great save.

After a great team play, the ball arrived to Canales, whose effort went straight into the keeper. The pace of the game started to lower down, especially because of the high temperature. Not much happened until the final five minutes of the first half, when Fekir and Borja Iglesias had chances to break the deadlock.

The second half started with a higher peace and each time had one chance in the first minutes. Then, in the 52nd minute, Alavés scored. Initially, the goal was disallowed as the assistant referee had raised the flag. However, the VAR changed the decision and the goal stood. The next one was for Guido with a shot from outside the area that went wide.

The away side were now waiting in defence and trying to stop the game as much as they could. And they also double the lead in a corner kick with a finishing by Ely. The best so far in the game came when Mandi produced a great long pass to Juanmi. The striker made a sensational control but found a great save by Roberto.

Juanmi was the protagonist a few moments later as the referee showed him straight yellow cards and sent him off. In the injury time, Loren cut the lead. And another red card came to end the game, this time for Alavés.
