Pepe Mel gave his impression on the work done by his men on the victory obtained at Mendizorroza. “It has been a disputed match, they played well. It seemed that we had some doubts and they took a step forward. Until we scored both goals I think we did well, and after that Alavés pushed up a lot and they did a good match.”

The good and the bad: “What I like the most is that we have completed an outstanding month of April. You are aware of the situations the players have been through, and they have done a brilliant month of April, which takes closer to see the end of the tunnel. We had good spells, we dominated the match until we scored the first one, and then we lost control. We took it back, made the second goal and it went away again. I think our hearts are driving us and we are letting the tactical and technical aspects aside, and we must try for that not to happen again. We could have lost some points today.”

Fifth victory in a row: “What I care about is that in my history with Betis we have been promoted twice, and I want a third one. I took, with a lot of people more, to take Betis to European competitions. I care a lot about these things, and what I care about now is to get the desired promotion and the happiness of our fans, and to have a good future and be part of it.”
