Molina: "The team is growing, I think we have been well in the last matches”

“We know that the match against Villarreal CF is going to be difficult, but we want to win the three points in front of our people”, stated Betis number ‘19’

The striker opened the press conference wheel of the present week before the beginning of the season. Jorge Molina spoke about Villarreal CF, the preseason and the expectations for the upcoming season.

Preseason: “A lot of new people have come. The preseason is useful to get to know one another, the way they play and to understand what the manager wants. It’s a growing process that goes on. We have been well in the last matches.”

Dani Ceballos: “I see him fine. He arrived later due to the Euros U19. He performed amazingly in the championship and came eager to play. We expect a lot from him because we know of his abilities. He is willing to start, and I’m sure he’ll do good.”

Villarreal CF, first rival in La Liga: “We know they are a really good team, not only because of their results in the preseason, but because of their performance in the last few years. Since the arrival of manager Marcelino they play a very effective and attractive football. They are really good at ball possession. We know that the match against Villarreal CF is going to be difficult, but we want to win the three points in front of our people.”

Possible arrival of a striker: “Everything that is an improvement for the team is good news. The higher the quality of the squad, the better for the club and for all of us. The one who arrives will be welcome.

Joaquín: “You could ask anyone about his possible arrival and the answer is going to be yes. He could give us a lot of things; he’s proven how good he is and he’d help us a lot. But this depends on the Club, on himself, and on the Club he is currently in.”

Real Betis has more than 42,000 season ticket holders: “That’s a fantast satisfaction. It means there’s a lot of expectation and we are going to play every two weeks in front of many people. That is an extra.”

How’s the team for the season debut?: “We’ve improved, the new ways are getting to know the rest more as time goes by. I think we have performed well in the summer tournaments. Obviously, there is still room for improvement, but the team is growing.”

Relationship with Rubén Castro: “We’ve been playing together for six years and we understand each other very well. We get along amazingly, with the same connection we’ve always had.”

What are your thoughts about the comments of and old attacking line?: “What matters is the performance on the pitch, not the date of birth. Sometimes the older guys are better than the youngsters. What matters is that we are feeling good and we are training hard to be at our best. Last year we were five years older than in our first campaign and we got better results.”

How do you feel at a personal level?: “I feel really excited and eager to play again in La Liga. I’m looking forward to the beginning of the season and I can’t wait for the official matches to start again.”

Differences with the 2011/2012 season: “The squad is quite different. In some way it’s similar because we were coming from Second Division as well, but now we have many more new faces. That year the team was more or less the same to the previous one.”

Number of goals for the season: “I hope many, but we need to go step by step. We are working to get to our best. I’m sure the goals will arrive.”

If you had to choose, in which match would you like to score?: “I’d like to score in a derby. We know what it means to our fans and I’d be pleased. But I want to score as many goals as I can, regardless of the match.”
