Real Betis and Sevilla FC come together to promote a derby based on respect and living together

The campaign has been endorsed by Uber and filmmaker Fernando Colomo, who has created a short film to take these values closer to the audience

On Saturday the 13th of April, one of the most important football matches in Spain will take place: El Gran Derbi between Real Betis Balompié and Sevilla FC. This is a match of the highest rivalry in which there is no room for violent or exclusive attitudes.

The two teams from Seville have joined Uber to promote an awareness-raising campaign aimed to outline the importance of living together, respect and tolerance between the two teams and their fans.

Former Betis player Dani and former Sevilla footballer Antoñito have presented this morning a special edition ball for El Gran Derbi. The ball combines the colours of both teams to symbolise the cooperation and importance of having a special derby this year.

The campaign also presents, with the help of filmmaker Fernando Colomo, who has created a short film that explains the values of the campaign in an ironic and informal approach. The main characters are Romeo and Julio, a couple that wants to get married. The main issue for them is that their families are against this marriage, as one is a Betis supporter and the other a Sevilla fan.

Uber general manager in Spain, Juan Galiardo, explained that "we share with both clubs the values featured in the campaign. We believe that is important to remove attitudes that create confrontation. We must realise that, in most of the cases, there are many more things that bring us together than the ones that separate us, and football is the perfect scenario to show it."

Education as the key of the campaign

Real Betis Balompié and Sevilla FC consider that one of the main aspects that could help prevent this kind of conflicts is education for our children. For this reason, both teams, along with Uber, will organise awareness course in Summer, so the children can learn how to manage diversity and promote inclusion.
