Velázquez: "I am optimistic, the team is still improving"

"Signing Álvaro Cejudo is a great move by the Club", says the Betis trainer

Real Betis Balompié's trainer was analysing the defeat by AC Fiorentina (1-2) at a press conference in the press room at the Benito Villamarín Stadium. He said that he was satisfied with how the team played in the presentation match in front of the home crowd who applauded his players at the end of the game.

Opinion of the match: “We are still in a preparatory phase. The 24th will be the really important date. Today I can go home feeling happy with the players' performance. We played significantly better in the second half. Analysing the match is very subjective. One has to consider the workloads, the standard of the opposing team and a thousand factors which are sometimes beyond our control. In general, the team is still improving. Today, the team had to face a rival with a lot of experience. We found it more difficult in the first half, but in the second we spent a lot of time in attack and set up opportunities to equalise. I am optimistic, I am satisfied with the team's performance and how valiantly they attacked the rival's goal”.

Damien Perquis: “I only see him as a centreback. The problem is that Lolo Reyes is unable to play due to injury. We have to look at all the possibilities and keep adjusting the minutes played in each game, in addition to the workloads. His presence in midfield is only temporary. Normally he would play as centreback against Sabadell if he plays”.

Jordi Figueras: “I would like to see sufficient unity between all the players to ensure that no conflicts arise during either competitions or training sessions during the week. I am very happy with how training is going. The healthiest way to be, from absolutely all points of view, is to focus on this season and forget the past. The fans have been exceptional. Jordi is a true professional. Everyone has to remain as positive as possible”.

Signing Álvaro Cejudo: “He is a player with significant experience in the First Division. He is a very interesting addition to the team. He is going to provide lots of opportunities down the wing, he passes out wide. It is a great move by the Club. He will be a real asset”.
