MATCH REPORT | Real Betis deserved more in the last game of the season at Villamarín (1-1)

Dani Ceballos scored for the Green-and-Whites

Real Betis tied with Atletico de Madrid in a game in which the Green-and-White side was superior to the rival in all the aspects of game and deserved to take the three points. Dani Ceballos scored the opener with a sensational volley. Savic, offside and handballing, levelled up the score.

The first dangerous play of the game was for Betis. Joaquín took the ball and run until he got into the box. There, he shot with a curled effort but the ball hit the outside of the net. The Green-and-Whites tried to claim the possession and was moving the ball well, trying to find open spaces. After a great collective play, Ceballos shot from outside the box to find the post.

The team continued improving and was now controlling the game. Atletico, on their side, were waiting, but any attacking play unsettled Betis a bit, as they have a huge offensive potential. However, they didn’t create good plays.

The second half began in the same way, with Betis trying to monopolise the ball possession and Atletico waiting to counterattack. After looking for it for almost an hour, the goal finally arrived. Dani Ceballos connected a sensational volley after a rebound and Oblak couldn’t avoid the goal.

The away time took little time to tie up the game again. In a set play, Savic, offside, tapped the ball in. All the Green-and-White players complained to referee, but he didn’t change his mind. The game resumed and Betis went again for the win. Cejudo almost scored the second for team after a good cross by Durmisi, but Oblak made a sensational save.

The team tried tirelessly until the end, but the score didn’t change.
