MATCH REPORT | We keep looking up (2-0)

The goals by Sergio León and Arbilla (own goal) gave the team another three points

Real Betis Balompié continued this evening with the positive streak against SD Eibar and added another three points. In a game in which the team improved as minutes went by, the team won thanks to the goals scored by Sergio León in the first half and an own goal by Arbilla in the second.

The game began with a chance just after the kick-off, as Guardado shot from the midfield trying to take Dmitrovic by surprise, by the shot went wide. After that play, Eibar tried to press really high on Betis side of the pitch, while the Green-and-Whites, as usual, looked for ball possession.

The first minutes were intense but without many chances. None of the teams were able to create good plays. The pressure of the rival made Betis uncomfortable, but the team continued trying to get to the other side with the ball in control. Step by step, Betis manged to open the game and the first chances arrives. The first one was for Bartra, who tried with a bicycle kick after a corner kick, but the ball went just wide.

Not long afterwards, the goal arrived. Barragán delivered a great pass to the back of the defence and Sergio León made a run towards the goal. The striker produced a great finish with the outside of his boot.

The goal spurred Betis forward and finally found more spaces and fluidity in the plays. However, Eibar responded in a set play, through a header by Ramis that Dani Giménez saved in great style. Eibar returned to the high pressure and took again a step forward. However, it was Betis the team that was closer to score. The team had their best minutes of the first half and had the rival several minutes under siege.

The final five minutes of the first period were of more Eibar possession, but they didn’t manage to create problems to Betis defence.

The game resumed after the break and Betis double the lead after just five minutes. Antonio Barragán got the baseline after a pass by Boudebouz and delivered a cross looking for León, but Arbilla tried to deflect the ball and introduced it in his own goal.

Eibar then tried to attack more, looking for something out of the game, but Betis was defending solidly and counterattack when they had a slight chance to do it so. The team did several times but was always stopped in fouls. The Green-and-Whites were, at the same time, trying to have the ball more and more so they could minimise the rival’s danger.

The game continued in the same way, with Eibar putting on a lot of intensity, but Betis were creating more danger. Actually, Bartra almost scored his first as Betis player in a corner kick delivered by Joaquín, but his header went narrowly high. Minutes later, Rubén Castro, who had just come on, almost scored, too. The striker received a pass and tried to put the ball pass Dmitrovic, missing by millimetres.

In the final minutes, Eibar tried, only in set pieces, with no success at all. In fact, Betis almost scored in two more chances for Rubén Castro, unlucky today.
