Garrido: "Getting the three points tomorrow will be a fundamental step towards salvation"

"I will not give names or positions of those to be signed", warned the Betis coach

The Real Betis coach appeared this afternoon before members of the press on the eve of the vital match for Betis to be played tomorrow at the José Zorrilla Stadium. Throughout the week, Garrido has highlighted to his players the need to beat Real Valladolid tomorrow. They are a direct rival in the fight to escape the relegation zone and victory would be the turning point the team needs. Likewise, the Valencian coach was asked about signings in the winter transfer window and the requests he has passed on to the Club in order to improve the team's performance and escape the relegation zone.

Nosa: "All the players who are available and that have been training with some regularity have trained. Nosa is at a stage in which he needs to gradually work to get back into the team. He has participated in part of the training session. As the days go by he will train more and more".

Union with the fans: "When I mentioned to the captains about staying on the pitch after the game, I told them that in my experience it is positive and helps unite the fans and the team. I think it was positive. The players know that the fans are very important. I think the recovery of this union is a fundamental factor for this team to bring things around. We must get everyone excited again, we have to look forward to a comeback that, as things are at the moment, will be historic. We should all be excited by the fact that it is possible. Everyone has an important role to play. Everyone should give more and take a step forward to show that we are able to pull this off. The fans are supporting us, it is amazing to see so many people getting enjoyment out of their team. United, this is the line we have to take to create that comeback spirit".

Vlada Stosic's dismissal: "On a personal level, I wish him well. I'm sorry he left office. Now what I have to do is everything possible so that Betis stays in the First Division. I must give my opinion and lend my support to any management issue that benefits the team".

Change of roles: "It hasn't changed so much. Before when I made comments to Vlada my opinion was heard, as is the case now. From my area of responsibility, I give my opinions on what can be done to the Club and the direction in which we need to work to improve the team".

Signing requests for this winter: "The first step is still recovering the best performance from the squad we have right now. Players we have now can, and should, demonstrate what they will be capable of tomorrow and more than they are doing at the moment. They can ensure the Clubs permanence in the first division. The Club is working on strengthening the team so that they get better results. When those players arrive they will do so to improve the team as a whole. With the players we have the base is competitive enough to win games and show we are a good team".

Reinforcements in goal?: "There is so much information being bandied about, I really can't give my opinion on them as there are too many names. There is a lot of speculation. I do not know who is giving out this information but they are players who we have not been in touch with. To keep denying the endless list of names that is thrown at me is an impossible task".

Critical match: "It is very important for us to get three points out of all the forthcoming matches. To move up the table we have to win matches. When you play against opponents who are direct rivals in terms of position in the league then they are even more important. I must give full importance to the match because they are very important games to ensure permanence in this division. The whole team must play at their best level in the knowledge that the three points are vital. Matches against teams who are in the same struggle for survival are fundamental. We must go to the match knowing that the three points represent a fundamental step in salvation. "

Transfers: "In all these types of situations all we want to do is win. That's the immediate issue. I understand that the work we have to do is organize the team so that they are able to win. We should give them their own style of play, improve defensive organization and many other aspects. To not only win a match, but to win many matches and climb up the league table. To do that we have to improve the players we have. This improvement can be more effective if we include new players who we think will improve the squad as a whole. We must sign players who we know will improve the team. We have had many proposals in all positions including some we were not even looking at. An important part of the job is to reject options and not to be too hasty. It must be done slowly, but always ensuring good conditions. I'm not going to slip into demagoguery. We are working on several reinforcements. It's best that negotiations are kept private because it can facilitate the transfer".

Can you at least say the positions you want to strengthen?: "I am not going to get into evaluation of positions or the names of any players. It would hamper situations and we must be discreet about those we have been in conversations with. The important thing is the team and winning the match tomorrow. We will have more information on these issues over the next few days".

Pressure: "Feeling the pressure of the competition is a normal state in football. For players and coaches a shopping trip can be more stressful than going out to play in front of 50,000 spectators. We know how to use that pressure to our advantage. The players know that they have not been up to standard and we must push that start button, starting from tomorrow. If we all give our best performance and truly take on board the comeback spirit we will start to see an improvement in the players' performances which have haven't seen to date".

What transfers are on your Christmas wish list?: "All I can ask for is that we are still in the first division next season. We can do that by working hard and giving it our all".

What about Cedrick?: "I have to pick and choose the 18 players that I think are the best. I think our players can prove that they are better than what we have seen of them so far. It's an important game for every player to show they deserve their place in the team".
