MATCH REPORT | To the Last 16 of Copa del Rey (0-2)

Canales and Rodri scored the goals

Real Betis got a ticket to the Last 16 in Copa del Rey after beating Real Sporting de Gijón at El Molinón. The home team had some chances, especially in the first minutes, but Betis controlled the game and had more and better opportunities.

The first key moment of the game was the red card shown to Marc Valiente for a nasty tackle on Canales. This changed the game completely and, from that minute, there was one team on the game. Five minutes after that incident, Lainez was brought down inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Sergio Canales did not miss the chance. Three minutes later, Rodri signed a masterpiece. The Young midfielder got the ball, made a 30-meter run dribbling two opponents and beat the keeper.

In the second half, the Green and Whites administrated the advantage, controlling the pace of the game. Apart from a couple good saves by Robles, the best news in the game was the return of Guardado after two weeks out for testing positive in COVID-19.
