Pacheco: "Being under pressure is good, it keeps us on our toes"

"It is understandable that the fans want Betis to play well", said the attacking midfielder

The footballer from Malaga attended members of the press in the press room at the Luis del Sol Training Centre. When asked about the forthcoming matches against Real Valladolid CF and UD Las Palmas, Pacheco gave his opinion on other areas of interest such as the pressure on them to gain promotion and his participation at the moment in Julio Velázquez's plans.

Did you expect to have more continuity?: “It's true that my contractual negotiations took a long time. I knew that this was the Club I wanted to join. It took time but it all worked out in the end. The Club has placed a lot of trust in me and I am trying to do my best, working hard to make life difficult for the boss. For the moment I am getting the match minutes that I want, I hope that continues. The team got off to a good start, other players that joined the Club after me are working well. That is good for me and the group. I am going to make things difficult for the boss so that I can get into the line-up”.

Matches against Real Valladolid and UD Las Palmas: “They are going to be good matches, but there are three points at stake all the same. For the moment we are focussing on Real Valladolid. We are to play away in a complicated stadium. We know that Real Valladolid are going to end up at the top end of the standings. That's where we want to be too. I don't think these matches are going to be a test to see where Betis ends up. We have to keep doing what we have been doing”.

Do you feel the pressure?: “We all know what Club we are in, what we have got ourselves in to and the demands put upon us. We have to get the team in to the top spots in the league so that we can get back to where we belong. We accept anything they want to say to us. We are dedicated to getting the team to the top of the standings at the end of the season”.

The fans want the team to perform better: “It is understandable that the fans want Betis to play well. The key is to win. From there we will continue to work on improving our game and winning matches. I would be happy with winning each weekend”.

Does the team feel good playing away?: “Playing with 30,00 supporters behind you is always good. We know that the fans are going to make demands of us. That keeps us on our toes and inspires us to do better. Playing in stadiums that demand so much of you hardens you. Playing away in the Second Division is tough, there are some difficult stadiums. At home we feel strong. We have to work so that people know what we are about ”.

Would the team be in the relegation zone if it hadn't been for Rubén Castro's goals?: “If you allow me to be so bold, I think that is just stupid. Rubén is one of our players. It is his job to score goals, something that he is doing incredibly well. It is our job to bring things to the matches and try to help him to score more goals. He is a key player for us. We should not give a thoiught to what it would be like if he wasn't here, fortunately he is”.

What is your preferred tactical formation?: “That is the coaches call. We try to adapt to what he asks of us. We have won with both formations. The boss is trying to find the best formation and we to adapt. Other than that it is his decision”.
