Lorenzo Serra Ferrer.

Serra Ferrer: “We have to be united, focused and convinced of what Betis means”

“My excitement is much bigger than in my first and second spells”, says the former coach

The new sports vice-chairman of Real Betis Balompié, Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, has done an interview today in Radio Betis.

Return to Real Betis Balompié: “I received the news with hoy and excitement because of what it means. The situation we are in, where we want to be and the way to make it gave me motivation and here I am, ready.”

New role, sports vice-chairman: “It’s different to the position I had in the two previous spells. Now it’s about joining the group. The group has to be united, focused, convinced of what Betis means and how much we have still to do to get it closer to the fans, to the history this Club demands. The professionals, the ones who work in this, we have to be united. We have to think that if we all go in the same direction, we can give these fans and this Club what they deserve. We still have a lot to do.”

Compatibility with the director of football: “There is no problem. If we all know where we are, if we are responsible, consistent, with a winning and empowering attitude, there’s no problem. I accept any professional who goes along this lines, but we have to think where we are.”

Is the excitement as big as in the previous two spells?: “The excitement is bigger than in my first and second spell because this is different and because I can only be thankful and I have a lot to give in return.”

Discipline: “As far as I know, I can’t make a judgement because I don’t know it in depth. What I know from previous experiences is that your mentality has always to be focused on what you can give to the fans, the Club, to the people that are with you in every game, in every action, knowing that they are going to give back three times what you give to them. That’s the first thing I want to show.”

Meetings with Haro and López Catalán: “I got very happy when they contacted me because they believe I have something to give to Betis. So, first of all, I have to thank them. They are young, Betis fans, ready for the present and for the future. We have to define well all the targets we want to achieve at short and long term, especially in short. We have to make the Betis fan feel at ease, excited, that every time they come to Benito Villamarín is going to be a joy for them, not suffering. We all have to add up. We have to demand that they put an effort, having a winning attitude. That’s what we need. If not, we are going against this Club’s spirit.”

Tense environment surrounding the Club: “When there are disagreements in an institution, it can be felt. This leaks into the dressing room and into the directors. However, we all have to be professional and, before demanding, we have to give.”
