The Real Betis Foundation presents Jesús, the new 'Star Signing of the green and white club

Jesús Caballo Pavo is the third protagonist of the Star Signing, a project that seeks to give a message of hope, both to children who are going through a serious illness process and to their families.

Jesús Caballo Pavo is a seven-year-old boy with Down Syndrome and from today the new Star Signing of the Real Betis Foundation. The little boy was born with interventricular heart disease for which he underwent surgery months later and from which he was able to fully recover after the operation. But Jesus had to go through another difficult time when he was two years old. After a few days of feeling tired and feverish, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The new protagonist of the Star Signing, despite the fact that, in his case, the treatments were more toxic for his body, he always fought with optimism until in March 2020 he finished his treatment and is currently recovered.

Like Alba and Bruno, previous protagonists of this project, due to his fight against this disease and his optimistic character, Jesús Caballo Pavo has become the Foundation's Star Signing of the 2023-24 season. An unstoppable Betis fan who is happy to be able to help other children. This little boy - a true Grease fan - already lives like anyone else his age and goes to school normally.

Today in the press room of the Benito Villamarín Stadium, the green and white institution presented the third protagonist of 'The Star Signing', a project that aims to transmit a message of hope to family members and children who suffer from serious illnesses. Jesús will be, from now on and throughout the season, the ambassador of Real Betis in actions such as the traditional visit to hospitals that is carried out together with the first team and section players, among others.

The previous season the project focused on giving visibility to children who were in the process of an organ transplant because Bruno recovered from a kidney transplant. On this occasion, the project not only gives visibility to boys and girls who are going through an oncological process, but also makes visible and normalizes Down Syndrome and children with this syndrome who suffer from cancer, as Jesus suffered. Real Betis also wants to recognize the work of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville, which does such important work in its oncology section with Andalusian children.

Through this project, the Foundation wants to show that thanks to strength and optimism during the illness process together with the great work of healthcare workers, you can overcome it and have a completely normal life.

Jesús has been presented as the best of the Foundation's signings: at a press conference and subsequently he posed before the media on the Benito Villamarín lawn with his image on the video scoreboards.

"For the Foundation, this project is very special. Alba and Bruno set the bar very high and helped many children, but we are sure that Jesus will fill with hope all the little ones who are going through an illness like the one he suffered and also those with Down Syndrome," said Rafael Gordillo, president of the Real Betis Foundation.

The Real Betis Foundation, thanks to Alba Fernández and Bruno Escandell, who did not want to miss the presentation of their successor Jesús, achieved the objective of the project from the first moment. The Star Signings were the best example for many children like Adriana, the Betis fan girl to whom Alba donated a wig that came from the 'Donate your hair' action, carried out together with "Pulseras Rosas", and who is currently healthy and maintains a close relationship with Alba, who accompanied her throughout her illness process.

Jesús will be the ambassador of the Club and the Foundation in actions of the institution's health program such as the "Strongest Hospital Gowns".

Jesús Caballo will also have the opportunity to be presented to the 50,000 fans who come to the Benito Villamarín Stadium in one of the next home league games.
