Betis B gets a valuable draw on their visit to Anguiano (1-1)
José Antonio Caro scored the equaliser for the green-and-whites in the 77th minute.
This Saturday Betis B visited La Rioja to play against CD Anguiano in the first leg of the knockout round for promotion to the Second Division B. Despite deserving a better prize they had to conform with a valuable draw (1-1) thanks to a goal by Caro in the 77th minute which neutralised the goal scored previously by Moha in the first half.
The match did not start well for Betis B. Just three minutes into the match and Moha, CD Anguiano's number 9 player, opened the scoring taking advantage of a loose ball in the area which had been thrown in from the sideline. On their first occasion the team from La Rioja made it perfectly clear what one of their main virtues was. Far from giving up, Betis gained more possession of the ball mainly supported by Carlos Garcia's input into the match. Indeed, it was this very midfielder who took centre stage in a play that provoked a lot of protest on the green-and-white bench, when he was brought down in the area by a home defender. The referee, who was close to the piece of play, did not award a penalty. The team from Heliopolis insisted and Isaac, Isuardi and Sofian created up to 3 golden opportunities to score, but none of them were to make any impression on the scoreboard.
The run of the game hardly varied in the second half. In fact, Juanma made it absolutely clear at the beginning of the second half that Betis B did not want to go home empty-handed from Anguiano. The forward entered the area and despite not having the necessary angle to resolve the play he finished it with a shot that struck the post. The Green-and-whites were clearly ahead in terms of possession of the ball but were having difficulties in making advances on the final third because of the well-positioned CD Anguiano defence. So, they took advantage of dead ball situations to harry their rival's goal. Varela had his chance in the 66 after taking a perfect direct freekick which Pisón was able to clear. It was the prelude to what was to occur just a few minutes later. A Heliopolitan defender sent a corner kick to the far post finding Caro ready to head it into the back of the net. Equaliser did not quench Betis B's drive who, guided by the tireless Kevin Lacruz, set out decidedly to finish the match with the victim which was to resist them in the end.
