Betis B progress to the decisive knockout round in the promotional play-offs after making a comeback against CD Anguiano (3-1)

The goals for the reserve team were by Eneko, Ismael and Álvaro González.

This Saturday, Betis B beat CD Anguiano 3-1 in the second leg of the second knockout round in the promotional play-offs for the Second Division B. This result together with the draw in the first leg (1-1) allows the Heliopolitan team to progress to the decisive round, in which a place in the bronze category of Spanish football next season is at stake.

The first half passed with hardly any incursions on either of the areas. Betis B in control of the run of play, looked for verticality on the wings as their main weapon to beat a well-positioned to defence which hardly left any spaces. Just before the halfway mark of the first half Fausto, who was suffering discomfort, had to be substituted by Eneko. With this substitution Kevin Lacruz changed to the centre half position together with Carlos García, while the newly incorporated Eneko took on an offensive role on the right wing. However, the run of play hardly changed and the teams came off at half-time without any movement on the scoreboard.

The second half though was to be different. In fact, four minutes into the second half and CD Anguiano surprised the green-and-whites with a counter-attack which culminated in Sotes scoring, 0-1. Despite the setback Betis B reacted well and went on the offensive with determination to level the match, which they managed to do moments later by the hand of Eneko. The Betis winger moved to the left wing when Álvaro González came onto the field of play, and he fabricated a powerful shot from outside the area making it 1-1. Having levelled the match the Heliopolitan team had their best moments and their insistence was rewarded in the 23rd minute when Ismael turned the tables with a goal (2-1) heading a centre by Varela from the corner into the back of the net. Betis B's control over the match grew even more and as a result they scored a goal making the definitive 3-1 result, when a centre by Álvaro González struck a visiting defender before slipping into CD Anguiano's goal. Consequently, the triumph confirmed Betis's participation in the final knockout round in the promotional play-offs for the Second Division B.
