Real Betis and FC88 join forces to launch sustainable upcycling initiative
These exclusive items?handmade backpacks and sports bags?reflect the Club's commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability, crafted from garments used during the 2023/24 season.
Real Betis, through its Forever Green initiative, has partnered with upcycling innovators FC88 to launch a new collection of official creative recycling products. This collaboration merges sports and sustainability to create a unique line of handcrafted pieces made from last season's 2023/24 Real Betis pre-match jerseys, transforming them into exclusive items.
The new collection will feature backpacks and sport bags, all created from jerseys that could no longer be used on the field. Rather than letting these iconic pieces of club history go to waste, FC88 has reimagined them through their cutting-edge upcycling process, breathing new life into the fabric. Every item is handmade, reflecting both the club's dedication to the community and FC88's commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability.
Social and Environmental Impact
The collaboration also has a significant social impact. By producing these items in one of their upcycling studios in Europe, the initiative supports job creation and skill development within the community.
From an environmental perspective, this partnership represents a major step forward in reducing textile waste. By repurposing jerseys that would otherwise be discarded, Real Betis and FC88 are making a powerful statement on the importance of sustainability in modern sports culture. This project is part of the club's wider commitment to social responsibility, proving that the football world can lead the charge in creating a more sustainable future.
A New Kind of Fan Merchandise
Real Betis fans will now have the opportunity to own a piece of the club's history in a whole new way. Every upcycled item is not only unique but also comes with the pride of supporting a sustainable and socially conscious initiative.
The new collection will feature backpacks and sports bags, crafted by FC88 through an innovative creative recycling process using these jerseys. These handmade items showcase the Club's dedication to craftsmanship and sustainability.
"This collaboration with Real Betis shows how upcycling can make a real difference, both for the environment and for local communities," said Matthijs Smit, co-founder of FC88. "We're proud to transform these iconic jerseys into something new, while reducing waste and supporting ethical production within Europe."
"Real Betis's commitment to sustainability has been strong for four years now, since we launched the Forever Green project. That's why we are proud of this collaboration with FC88 and to be able to offer in our catalog meticulously crafted, artisanal pieces," stated Juan Useros, Real Betis Chief Business Officer.
