Real Betis Balompié have given UNICEF the earnings of the viewing of the Copa del Rey final at Benito Villamarín Stadium. 

The Green and White club set up a huge screen at the Stadium so all the fans without tickets for the actual final could watch the game together. The tickets had a price of 2 euros. In total, the Club donated 56,726 Euros to UNICEF.

With this donation, UNICEF will be able to provide essential services to children in Ukraine and their families, in actions related to health, education, protection, and access to water. With this amount, UNICEF can, for example, provide with more than 1,400 first aid kits with essential medications and minor injuries treatment to assist kids affected by the war in Ukraine.

Three months after the war started, the humanitarian conditions of the children are getting worse in the East and South of Ukraine, where the combats are the fiercest. UNICEF state that, ay 18th of May, at least 255 children have died and 382 have been wounded, although these figures could be much higher. Thousands of them are deeply traumatised by the violence surrounding them, and they urgently need health, safety, protection and psychological assistance. These circumstances are provoking a massive exile of the population: about two thirds of all Ukrainian children have been displaced inside their own country or have fled to a neighbour country. It is estimated that more than 6.4 Ukrainians have left the country towards Western Europe.

When a humanitarian emergency like this happens, we try to act as fast as possible and cooperate with UNICEF, an institution that is working really hard to improve the situation of children in Ukraine", stated Rafael Gordillo, president of Real Betis Balompié Foundation.

They have always answered to UNICEF in situations of emergency or crisis. We want to especially thank them for trusting UNICEF in this terrible time for children and families in Ukraine", said Claudia Zafra, UNICEF president in Andalusia.

This is not the first time in which Real Betis Balompié have taken action to help the Ukrainian people. Last March, the Real Betis Foundation launched the campaign 'NoWar'm asking all the Béticos to gather humanitarian items to help with the situation in Ukraine.
