Setién: “We didn’t take advantage of all the chances we had”
Press conference
Quique Setién addressed the media at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan Stadium after the match.
Match analysis: "I said it before the game. The game was going to be decided depending on the accuracy both teams were going to have in both ends. Sevilla had four chances and scored three. We had a few more and didn't make them. The game has been quite even. We have controlled it, especially in the second half. We played most of the time in their side of the pitch but they defended well. We have to consider the quality these players have, not only against us. They are fast, clever and finish well. You can see how efficient they were, it's not easy to defend against them. We did great in many moments. We've been in the game, had our chances and had them under siege for the last 20 minutes. A draw would have been a fairer result."
Lack ok goal: "We know how football is. Sometimes we create loads of chances but we have trouble finishing them. Our strikers want to score. When they missed, there's not much you can say because they wanted to score. It's a problem that we will have to assess once the season ends and we can make some changes. Until then, we have to work and try to have our most offensive players in good shape so they can score. If they strikers can't, we have Gio, Tello or Canales. The three of them are great this season in that sense, even if they are not strikers."
Defeat: "I think we had a lot of really clear chances that we missed, even four or five chances of players alone in front of the keeper. We have to score, that's what matters. I think we did enough to, at least, tie the game, though. We did many things the right way but as it usually happens to us, it wasn't enough. Last year we scored the first we had. We had an effectivity last year that we didn't have today."
Europe: "I'm always optimistic. It's true that when you lose, your chances get smaller. It's obvious. There are still enough points and many matches between some of our rivals. We'll keep trying until the end- Now we have a really important game against Valencia. The team is in good form and will keep this way until the last day."
Banega: "There have been several of those. The one from Banega was evident that he went to kick Joaquín. The ball was nowhere near him, it's a violent action and should have been a red. The rules are clear. If it had been one of my players, I would say the same. It's really cheap for them to make fouls. And not only this one, there have been some similar ones."
