Ollero: “Eduardo Macià is the candidate that convinced us all”
“We value his curriculum, his professional ability and his will to work,” stated Real Betis Chairman
Real Betis Chairman appeared before the media in the introduction of Eduardo Macià as new Technical Director of Real Betis Balompié.. Juan Carlos Ollero answered several questions.
Eduardo Macià, new Technical Director: “We are witnessing an important event for Real Betis. We have said for a long time that improving, increasing and perfecting the possibilities of the technical direction was very important for Real Betis. Since we first expressed our desire, we haven’t stopped working on this subject for a single day. At the end of January we started making the first contacts with people we thought were appropriate to be responsible of something that we consider is basic for the progress of Real Betis Balompié.”
Did you speak with other candidates?: “Eduardo Macià was not the only person we thought of as technical director, nor the only one we spoke with, either. We talked with very qualified ones, but was Eduardo who convinced us all. We are sure that, with him, we are going to work in the right direction. Success is never a sure thing in football, but work must be the foundation to achieve that success. We are not looking for results to come the day after tomorrow. We would like Eduardo Macià to work at ease with his partners accordingly to our budget, and to make Betis up to its fans. We are sure he is going to make it. He is a qualified and thoughtful person, who appreciates faithful collaboration and knows the market perfectly. We were surprised to see to what extent he knew Betis Academy players or other football markets. We value his curriculum, his professional ability and his will to work.”
Time of his arrival: “It’s not just a moment in which Betis needs him, it is also a crucial moment in his career. He is fully aware of Betis’ importance. He knows that we are not content with just a little, but he also knows that we are patient, that you can get far with patience and good sense.”
Dani Ceballos’ renewal: “The negotiation is on the table. Betis is doing a great effort to keep Ceballos, as we are convinced that Real Betis Balompié is the perfect stage for Ceballos’ development in the upcoming years. We are not only thinking about Real Betis, but also about a player who is 18 years old, with 15 years of professional career ahead of him. It is important for him to have an environment in which he feels relaxed, supported, and feeling the trust of his coaches. The negotiations have been based on this idea. We cannot divert from this direction, not on Betis behalf nor with the proposal of making a quick career, either. It would be just wrong.”
