The player spoke for the first time after signing his contract

After signing the contract than bins him with Real Betis until 2021, Ryad Boudebouz has said his first words as Green-and-White.

Arrival to Real Betis: “It’s great step for me to arrive to such an iconic club. I already knew part of this club’s history. Also, Aïssa Mandi and Jonas Martin had told me about Real Betis. Because of my playing style, I wanted to play in Spain since I was little. For me, it’s a huge step to progress in this club.”

Why did you choose Betis?: “Aïssa Mandi told me a few weeks ago that the manager might be interested in me. He has a playing style that is good for me and I always wanted to play this way. LaLiga style can be good for me. This will allow me to progress in my career, show that I can help this team and look for victories. I wanted to prove myself in Spain.”

What did you know about Betis?: “It’s a club with a huge fandom, you always want to watch Betis games. Betis has won important trophies, one league and two cups. I’m in a moment in my career in which I want to evolve, I’m eager. I want to achieve things and I think I can play at a higher level here. I’m sure I can make it here at Betis. I can reach a much higher level.”

Playing style: “I’ve always been good at assists, but I know how to score, too. I want to continue progressing and scoring goals. I want to do better than last year and give key passes to help the team. We have a team with great individualities. If I can help the team, better.”

Targets for the season: “As a team, we have to try to get the highest number of victories. The key is to have a good connection and respect each other. If the collective part goes well, so it will at individual level. If I do well, the collective part will also be all right.”

Teammates at Real Betis: “I know Adán, Joaquín, Guardado, or Sanabria. I watch LaLiga a lot and of course I know Betis players. I played against them last year and that allowed me to meet some of my new teammates.”

The fans are really excited about your arrival: “When you begin in football you never expect to arrive to an airport and see so many people waiting for you with huge passion. When I arrived and saw all those fans waiting for me, I was quite pleased. That makes me even more eager on helping the team because we can’t forget that football is a show and we have to make people enjoy.”

Offers from other team: “I was all the time sure. I knew that I would come even if it was difficult. I had only thoughts about Betis since I spoke to Aïssa Mandi. He told me about the manager, the stadium and the fans. I had already made up my mind and I really wanted to come here. I’ve waited, I’m patient. If I could wait 27 years to play in Spain, I could would wait a couple more weeks.”

First LaLiga game: “I really want to play at our stadium. I know the Spanish league has a very high level. Brahimi, who played at Granada, told me that this championship is very good for players who like to dribble, like I do. I really want to start and discover the Spanish league.”
