Calderón: "We want to fight but if out of the last 6 points in play five were taken away from us..."

The manager was clearly proud of his team but once again he was forced to regret certain decisions by the referee

The Real Betis manager, Gabriel Humberto Calderón, gave his reflections on the frustration felt by the team in the press room at the Madrigal Stadium. "The point? It wasn't enough for us, particularly because on yet another match day we have had to fight against forces we are not able to fight against. The players proved themselves to be men, a team worthy of the Club they represent".

The manager went straight to the point and highlighted the rulings that swung the match. "In my opinion the penalty that was awarded against us was incorrect and that which they committed against us clearly was. It is very sad. We want to fight to stay in the First Division but if out of the last 6 points in play five were taken away from us...", lamented the Argentinian. However, just as he did with his discontent about the referee's decisions, he made his recognition of the team's effort absolutely clear. "I am very happy with the team. It is clear to me how much they have improved, how they keep on working at it despite the setbacks and given the situation we are in they want to continue fighting for salvation. The victories and the good matches are all the players' doing", he added emphasising that "in the changing room there is a feeling of helplessness because when unjust actions are repeated and when you put your life on the line and you come up against obstacles it is only normal to feel that way. We shall see if they let us win a match on the field of play".

The manager also gave his opinion on Juanma's debut, the second reserve to premier with the first team under his command. "I know him very well, I have watched him train and he deserved an opportunity. ¨He has a strong personality, that's why I brought him and fielded him".
