Back to work with lunch included

Tomorrow there will be a double training session; the second, to be held at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, will be open to the public

Let us hope that no stone will be left unturned and that full advantage will be taken of these days to unite the team and achieve that transcendental victory on Saturday 4th against Valladolid. Since his arrival at the Club Juan Carlos Garrido has clearly defined his priorities in his plan to pull the team around, namely for the players to regain their self-esteem which had been broken with the recent results in the national league. These first sessions after the holidays have been dedicated to finding a core group of players who will make up the team in the forthcoming fixtures; matches in which victories are of primordial importance. To this end one of the best recipes to achieve this is to spend as much time together as a family so that causes that have led Betis to being bottom of the league can be detected. The first step on that road to recovery is Valladolid.

The former coach of Bruges has arrived with very clear ideas. The clearest indication of that occurred in the morning session, marked by a high level of physical intensity from which Garrido gave them no respite. Attention to detail, no matter how insignificant they seem, is the order of the day and closely monitored by the coaching staff who had given the players instructions to follow over the Christmas holidays. The players have maintained a strict diet, which will continue with adjustments based on the demands of the training sessions over the next few days.

Consequently, the team will have lunch today and tomorrow at the Silken Al-Andalus Hotel to complement the work undertaken on the training pitch. These 'invisible' sessions will take place after each morning session in order to reinforce the morale of the group and will provide the opportunity to reach a consensus on those areas requiring correction. Furthermore, and as part of the action plan to rectify the team's position on the league table, the team will have a double training session. The first will be held behind closed doors at the Luis del Sol Training Centre at 10:30 am, whereas the second will be held at 4:45 pm at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, this session will be open to the public. Between the two a lunch to strengthen the characteristic that is so necessary for the team to escape the relegation zone: unity.
