Betis B bid farewell to the year with a victory with a comeback against Córdoba B (1-2)

Betis B has closed the competition in 2014 with a hard-fought away win against Córdoba CF B 1-2 thanks to goals by Álex Alegría and Alvaro Gonzalez, which materialised the comeback after Bijimine scored in the first half. The Heliopolitan team now have 29 points and are in fourth place although there are still matches to be played in this eighteenth matchday in Group IV of the Second Division B.

Pedro Morilla presented an eleven in which Ismael was new in relation to the team last Sunday in the win against FC Cartagena. Betis, like then, started the match strongly and accumulated several approaches before the the clock indicated ten minutes of match play. The first warning was by Álex Alegría, who managed the necessary precision with his shot after winning the sprint to the goal. Moments later came the clearest opportunity for Betis in this half, signed by José Antonio Caro off a corner kick taken by Ignacio Abeledo. Jon Villanueva, the Córdoba B keeper, cleared the header by the defender from Estepa in an act of reflexes. Despite the good start by Betis, the home team managed to open the scoring with Bijimine in one of his first approaches on their goal advocated by Pedro. The Cordovan reserves could have extended their lead twice, both thwarted by a watchful Pedro, but Betis B pulled themselves together and looked for the equalizer. Carlos Garcia tried his luck from outside the area with a shot that was lost near post. It would be one of the last outstanding plays before half time.

After passing through the locker room, the script did not suffer too many changes but the ending was to be different for Betis B. And that was Cordoba B who were the first to set foot in the area with a crossing shot by Juanfra. Previously Betis had had their chance off a free kick taken by Carlos García which Caro was not able to finish cleanly when he was in an open position. Morilla sought a reaction and made a double change in place of Pozo and Juanma, Álex Alegría substituted the attacking duo. The forward from Extremadura was tireless in the struggle with rival defence and pulled one back in 74th minute heading home a free kick served by Ignacio Abeledo. Córdoba B suffered from the goal and gave ground away to a Betis B who managed to score again two minutes later with a goal by Álvaro González. Without time to digest this goal, a new Betis advance led by Juanma, concluded with the striker being brought down in the box by Bijimine. The referee had no hesitation in pointing the penalty spot and giving the Cordovan fullback his second yellow card, so home team faced the rest of the match with ten men. Juanma itself took the penalty kick that Jon Villanueva stopped, maintaining the uncertainty of the result until the final whistle.
