Real Betis Juvenil A gains a victory in the derby against Sevilla FC (4-3)
Real Betis Juvenil A triumphed over Sevilla Fútbol Club (4-3) in an exciting derby that was not decided upon until the final moments of the match, when the Green-and-whites made a comeback going ahead on the scoreboard to take all three points at stake. This result represents the fifth consecutive victory for Gustavo Sanchez's lads, a magical run that strengthens their noble position amongst the top teams in the classification of group 4 Youth Honour Division.
The team from Heliopolis bore the weight of the match right from the start, moving the ball around with criteria. Indeed, the first scoring opportunity in the match for Real Betis Juvenil A was the result of a good partnership between Javi Herrera and Braganza; unfortunately, Ignacio Abeledo's header struck the crossbar. A short while later came the expulsion of Sevilla's player, Curro, who struck José Carlos during a tackle to gain possession of the ball. Later a substitute had to come on for José Carlos as a result of this incident. Halfway through the first half the Green-and-whites again made a dangerous advance on their opponents goal, this time Iván. However, his shot was deflected off his team mate, Pepelu, deflecting it off target. Notwithstanding, it was Sevilla who was to score the first goal when Fran, in his first approach on Pedro's goal scored (0-1). Gustavo Sánchez's team was far from disheartened and immediately set out to equalise the match which was to come in extra time of the first half. Abeledo received the ball on the right wing and he conjured up a hard shot which slipped in to the corner of the visiting team's goal (1-1).
Shortly after the beginning of the second half Juan scored the second goal for Sevilla putting his team ahead once more (1-2). Almost immediately after, Pepelu was brought down in the area and the referee had no doubts in signalling the penalty spot. The forward himself took the penalty and again equalised the match (2-2). This goal spurred Betis on and they were to have a number of scoring opportunities to tip the match in their favour. However, Sevilla scored again and once more off a counterattack, but this time the protagonist was Juanje (2-3). Once again Betis found themselves needing to pull back, and the equaliser came in the 72nd minute when Iván headed in an accurate cross in from the right wing by Abeledo (3-3). The goal gave Betis a new lease of life and they went all out for the comeback which was to arrive in the 88th minute of the match. Pibe dribbled round various markers in the area and his shot squeezed into the corner of the goal. The final result was 4-3 and the team brought home three important points in the fight for the top positions in the league table.
