UCAM Murcia-Betis B, promotional play-offs for Second Division B

Betis B has been tied with UCAM Murcia in the knockout promotional play-offs for the Second Division B in the draw held this afternoon at the 'Soccer City' in Las Rozas (Madrid). The green-and-white reserves will visit ‘El Mayayo’ Stadium next weekend situated in Sangonera and with a capacity of some 2000 spectators. The second leg is scheduled to be held on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of May.

The Betis B coach, Oscar Cano, attended the Club's official media to give his first impressions of the rival that resulted from the draw: "UCAM Murcia is a team that has shown great superiority in their group. They have ambitious plans. There are players in the team who have played in higher leagues such as Gavilán, Robles, Bustillo, Barrancos, Henares and Picó. Like any knockout round it is going to be unpredictable and complicated".

As you know the team that comes out victorious will be promoted to the Second Division B. On this road to promotion the top classified teams get a second opportunity if they are knocked out of this first phase.

 

UCAM Murcia, Group 13 champions

The UCAM Murcia participated in Group 13 of the Third Division, corresponding to the region of Murcia. In the 36 matches played the team from Murcia earned a total of 88 points resulting from 28 victories, 4 draws and 4 losses. They're coached by the Uruguayan international player Gabi Correa and they finished 13 points ahead of the second team in the group. They are known for their strong defence because they only conceded 15 goals throughout the competition.

Last season they participated, together with Betis B, in Group IV of the Second Division the finishing 17th in the standings. The result of the matches between the two teams back then were; 2-2 in the Luis del Sol Training Centre and 1-1 at Murcia's ground.
