Adán: "We will fight right until the end so that we can keep our heads held high"

Antonio Adán appeared at midday in the press room of the Benito Villamarín Stadium, during which he gave his evaluation of the team's position in the standings and the forthcoming dual next Saturday against Real Sociedad. According to the goalkeeper, who recognised the slim possibility that exists of permanence in this category, the team should continue fighting until the last match for the sake of their dignity and professionalism, so that they can come off the pitch with their heads held high in the four match days that remain in this league championship.

Meeting about the match against Rayo Vallecano: "We have spoken about what we all did on Wednesday after the day off. We watched a video of the errors that were committed. We spoke about what lies ahead of us and the good impression that we must give in what remains of the League. We are aware that relegation is the most likely scenario, but above all that is our dignity and the fans who deserve our best performance".

The team's relegation could be decided even before Saturday's match: "That is going to be a difficult situation but we are prepared mentally. We have known throughout the season that the team was way down at the bottom. Our objective is to go out there and give it our all in every match. The team has always faced up to the challenge except for the last match. That is what we hope to do, fight right up until the very last moment and walk off the pitch with our heads held high because we have given it our all".

Reception by the fans: "We are aware that it is going to be a complicated month. We know that our fans are passionate and that they make their opinions known, something that we shall always respect. When I got here the fans were insulting us, and we've managed to change that opinion. The fan support us and have been with us right up until the end. And they will continue to do so if we give our all. The fans are very grateful and they know that we are doing our best, they will be supporting us".

Were the players who were not going to be with the team next season mentioned in the meeting?: "No, it wasn't raised. We are a team, something that has been proven on many occasions. We are all responsible for what might happen. Everyone is training to the best of their abilities. Those who are not able to so are doing their best to get back training as soon as possible. We are all going to be facing up to the challenge until the very last match".

How is Paulao after what happened on Sunday?: "He expressed his opinion the other day. The team always supports a team mate. We respect him and we support him every day because we want him to be on form for Sunday. We're focused, we know that there is still a lot in play. No one wants to get hurt. No one wants to go out onto the pitch and receive boos from the crowd, that's why everyone wants to do their best and come off with their head held high.

Comments painted on the walls of the Luis del Sol Training Centre: "No one likes to get to their place of work to see things like that. In a Club like Betis when you have a passionate following, things like that happen. We should make sure that in this final month things run as smoothly as possible on all levels, so that we don't have to take crap like that, and as a team face up to the challenge so that these things don't happen again".

Rafael Gordillo said that Betis was an elevator team: "Betis is a great Club as its history proves. The conversation with Paco Jimenez was private, but he was overheard".

Reports on Vadillo: "I think all the team is committed. We have talked about the issue of Alvaro Vadillo. A lot of hurtful things have been said over the last few days. Some crazy things have been said and the reports that are just not true. He has been shat on and that gives him a label which later is really hard to get rid of. They're making it look like something it isn't. I have no doubts about any of my team mates. Vadillo does not deserve this, he has been injured and has been trying to get better as soon as possible. These reports are hurtful and all they do is make these lies and rumours circulate an even greater pace. And in the end the player is labelled forever".

Are the referees responsible for Betis being at the bottom?: "The Club's position in the standings is not caused by the referees or by anyone else. We are the ones who are principally responsible. There was a run of 14 defeats. Since I got here it's true that there have been four or five matches that we lost because of the referees. That makes things more complicated but in the end it is a situation in which we are the main culprits".

the meeting with the LFP (Professional Football League) and the AFE (Spanish Footballers' Association) about rigging and betting in football: "It is an informative meeting that is given to every club at this stage in the league, a stage in the league which is considered to be more suspicious. We always go out to win. Because of the situation we are in there is always going to be some speculation but I have no doubt about any of my team mates".

Nosa's photo posted on social networks after the 3-1 result in Vallecas: "Logically he has been told that, given the situation we are in, it was not the best thing to do both for him and his team mates. It is a dressing room thing and we shouldn't read too much into it".
