Soon Real Betis Balompié will be back at work andAntonio Adán (Mejorada del Campo, 13-05-1987) is enjoying his holidays on the coast. The goalkeeper made sure that the villa where he has been staying these days included a small gym in order to keep in shape. He also cycles with his brother Luis and his friend Félix and they get some kilometres under their belts, and he follows all the latest news about the club on the internet. The player from Madrid is fully identified with the club and the city. So much so the goalkeeper has said on the official web page that the music he has in his car includes plenty of typical Sevillian music like ‘Que no nos falte de ná’ by Los Cantores de Hispalis. “I fell in love with that song the very first time I heard it. It has a good vibe. I'd love it to be the anthem for the team in the changing room”, he said laughing.
How are the holidays?: “The holidays are going great. I'm enjoying the time with my family, my friends and my girlfriend. It's been a tough year and these holidays have been great to clear my mind, recover some energy and come back with greater motivation to do things right from the beginning”.
Active holidays?: “Even though it's good to rest for a few days, and despite being on holiday, you never stop doing some sporting activity. These past few days I've also been following the summer fitness plan that the manager has set us. We have to come back at full tilt”.
Are you aware of the current events about the team?: “Of course. I'm always aware of what is happening at the Club in the knowledge that they are doing what has to be done”.
What do you think about the new manager, Julio Veláquez?: “I think the signing of the new manager, despite his age and given what I know about his previous work, represents what the club needs right now: commitment, a desire to grow and serious commitment to work on a daily basis”.
What about Molinero?: “Molinero is an experienced player who has played in First Division teams. He has always made a contribution wherever he has played, working hard and committed. We hope he adapts to the team as soon as possible and that he will be able to give us the benefit of all he knows”.
It will be a long and tough season. “We know that the Second Division is complicated. A lot of the teams have played in the First Division and for many of the teams that is their main objective. As it is for us too”.
What is the key to achieving that goal?: “For me the key is to work hard every day, to do so with humbly and not think that because we are one of the great Spanish teams it will be easy for us to be promoted. We have to work every match, not look to the end of the season, be humble enough to take each match as it comes. If we play like that then we have a good chance of fulfilling our objective for the season".
Do you see yourself as a captain?: “My commitment to the Club and to the team is absolute. I'm in the team to help but the captaincy is something the manager and the team has to decide. There are a number of players who have been at the club for a number of years and they have my respect as captains”.
