With the Betis team for the 2014/15 season underway and the five reinforcements that have joined the team so far already on the turf at the Luis del Sol Training Centre, Alexis appeared before members of the press at Dani Paceho's presentation. The Technical Secretary, satisfied with the incorporation of a new player who will bring offensive quality to team, gave his evaluation of current events such as the renovation of Perquis, Varela and Rubén Castro as well as those positions that still require improvement. Alexis it is now focused on the defensive line.

Signings in the offensive line: “In principle the offensive line is practically complete in terms of players and the numbers the coach wanted. Now we are looking at possible departures. If we are to bring more new players the team we are thinking more about the defensive line where there are still some deficiencies. Still, the transfer market remains open so, if there happens to be some opportunity for the offensive line, we will take advantage of it”.

Lolo Reyes's injury: “He came back from holiday with the strained ligament in his left knee. His injury will require at least a two-week recovery period during which he will not be able to train with the group. It is a major setback for us. We believe him to be a resilient young man, so our initial reaction is not to reinforce an area that we believe is already covered”.

The extension of Perquis's contract: “We met with the representatives who were negotiating on his behalf. At the end of the day we reached an agreement in which all parties were satisfied with the situation. That is why we issued a statement indicating that there was a complete understanding. Later there was a small detail which I spoke to the player about yesterday. He let me know that his main representative will come on Thursday. We will finalise that one detail and we will continue with the agreement we had two days ago”.

Will the renovation of Perquis conclude the changes to the defensive line?: “There could be a new signing”.

The renovation of Varela: “I have spoken to his agent on a number of occasions, and he is due to arrive in Seville today to finalise the situation. On Friday I spoke to him to see if he had spoken with the player. I told him about the idea the Club had in mind. I hope that today this situation will be resolved”.

How was Lolo Reyes injured?: “He says it was a bit of bad luck. He was with his family, it was an unfortunate incident. We trust the player. Hopefully he will recover very soon. hopefully he will get back on top form so that we can take on the championship with the best guarantees”.

In the agreement with Perquis have you considered sporting interests above economic ones?: “Sporting interests. Not economic at all. The Club is okay on that front. We can afford to sign him, or not. We believe he is a player that could be valid for us. We have made a proposal that in principle was correct. I made it quite clear to him what the small detail that needs to be cleared up was”.

The meeting between Julio Velázquez and Rubén Castro: “It took place yesterday. The meeting was quite satisfactory. We are going to meet with the player before the team goes to Murcia and we will talk about his situation”.

Will Lolo Reyes go with the team to the first pre-season camp?: “We have to talk about that with the doctor to see exactly what he thinks would be best for a speedy recovery, whether he can go with the team and receive treatment their or stay here and continue his recovery plan”.

The number of players who will travel to San Pedro del Pinatar: “That is a decision that the coach has to make. We have scheduled a meeting to talk about a number of issues. In that meeting we will see what he thinks best for that pre-season camp”.

Will Braian Rodríguez go?: “It is true that the coach wants two players per position and four for the offensive line. We have spoken with Braian and we are trying to find a solution in the form of a loan. We think you will be an interesting player for the team so we are not considering his departure. We have a lot of players in that position so we are looking for a solution away from the club”.
