The Appeal Committee dismissed the appeal filed on behalf of Lolo Reyes, who will miss the derby
Finally, Calderón will not be able to count on Lolo Reyes for the derby next Sunday. The Chilean midfielder must comply with the sanction for accumulation of warnings after he received a yellow card last Saturday at Camp Nou during the match against FC Barcelona. First, the green-and-white Club presented claims against Iglesias Prieto's match report requesting that it be rescinded, but the penalty was upheld by the Competition Committee.
The next step taken by the legal services of Real Betis was to present an appeal to the Appeal Committee, but the federative organisation dismissed the appeal, so Lolo Reyes will have to miss the 33rd match of the Liga BBVA. In any case, Betis would still have the possibility of applying for a precautionary postponement for the South American player before the Sporting Arbitration Tribunal. This option was discarded according to statements made by President Manuel Dominguez Platas to the media:"It has been decided against as it is not worth it, the federative authorities have already found against us. Going to another authority will not be necessary as we have very little chances of success. There are enough players to cover this position. If he is given a caution he will not play in the next match. It is better to leave things as they are, whoever plays in his place will do well".
All this will provoke a reshuffle in the centre of the pitch as another team member will have to replace Lolo Reyes in midfield, a position that the Chilean player has held as a starter for a number of weeks now.
