Today at midday the Real Betis Balompié Sporting Director, Vlada Stosic, accompanied Juan Carlos Garrido at his debut as the new coach for the thirteen stripped team. The Serb explained the reasons for the change of the manager on the green-and-white bench.

Have you thought about resigning?: “I thank Pepe Mel for the work he has done during his time at the club and I wish him every success for the future. I wouldn't venture to say what proportion of the blame should be levelled at me, I'm sure you may have some idea of the percentage. I am responsible too. As Sporting Director I have a high level of responsibility. But I have never thought of resigning, not for one moment”.

Is the team able to compete in all three competitions?: “We have complete confidence in our team and our new coach. He is perfectly able to get the team moving forward with the players we have. When the time comes, and we see that we need to make some additions to the team, it will be looked in to”.

Why did you choose Garrido?: “We believe in our team. They are all able to win matches to get the team back to where it deserves to be. The decision was based on his work philosophy. He has some very good qualities, character and personality. He takes very good care of the tactical details of his teams. His is an extremely motivated coach. He is the perfect coach to get Betis moving forward”.

Will the team meet their objectives this season?: “My staff have been working with me for three years and they have achieved their objectives. We believe we can do it this season too. We shall see if we have done things right or wrong at the end of the championship. That's when we will be able to evaluate if we have signed good players or not”.
