The LFP announces the suspension of the start of the Liga Adelante
The LFP (the Professional Football League) has just issued a communication announcing the suspension of the start of the Liga Adelante, which was scheduled for the 23 and 24 August. Following the court's ruling that Real Murcia should be reinstated in the Second Division, the LFP has convened a committee meeting to decide how to respond to the situation. It will not be until then, given the possibility of having to draw up a new calendar, that more details will become available regarding the start of the championship for Real Betis. Antonio José Sánchez Pino, one of the Betis Club board members will meet with the Second Division Board to analyse the new situation.
Below is a translation of the transcript of the communication issued by the LFP:
"The Professional Football League wishes to present the following information regarding the decisions and measures adopted in relation to Ruling of the Madrid Commercial Court no 7 which ruled that Real Murcia should be reinstated:
1º The Clubs and SAD of the Liga "Adelante" have been sent a report relating to the consequences of the Court Ruling. In the aforementioned report, the LFP confirmed that they respect the decisions taken by any Legal Authority and reported the presentation of a written objection to the Ruling handed down by the Madrid Commercial Court nº 7. Considering the urgency and speed with which the proceedings are being conducted in the abovementioned court, we are confident that a mandatory hearing will be held within the next 10 days, as prescribed by the applicable Civil Procedure Act. 2º The LFP has convened a meeting of its Executive Committee at 10:30 on Monday 18th August to discuss the order decreeing Real Murcia's reinstatement and to study today's ruling by the TAD (Spanish Sport Ministry's Administrative Court) rejecting the club's appeal to have its punishment (relegation and fine) provisionally suspended. 3º Likewise, at 12:00 on 18 August, the Second Division Board of Directors will meet to discuss the agreements to be adopted by the Executive Committee once they have analysed the Court Ruling, the LFP's rejection of same and the ruling by the TAD. 4º In the event that it is necessary to draw up a new calendar for the Liga "Adelante", it must also be approved by the Spanish Football Association (AFE) as stated in the Collective Agreement signed recently. 5º If the decision is made to modify the number of teams in the Liga Adelante, this change must be approved by the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation), in accordance with the Statutes of the Royal Federation. 6º Therefore, given the opinions expressed and the time frames to which we are obliged to comply, it has been decided to suspend the start of the National Championship Second Division, Liga Adelante. The RFEF has been informed of this decision, in accordance with the terms of the Federation Statutes and Regulations". 7º LFP president Javier Tebas will host a press conference after the meeting of the Second Division's Board on Monday 18 August.
