MATCH REPORT | Back to Europa League (2-3)

Back Europa League! In a nerve-wrecking game, Real Betis sealed their passport for the UEFA Europa League. The Green and Whites won 2-3 over RC Celta de Vigo at Balaídos to finish the season in sixth position and qualify for European competitions two years later. A victory based on faith, as the team was trailing 0-2.
In the first half, a goal from the penalty spot by Iago Aspas gave the locals the lead. The goal came after half an hour in which none of the teams were clearly in control. Bravo almost saved it, but the game went with that score into half time. At that moment, Betis were not in Europa League position as Villarreal was winning at Real Madrid.
The second half was full of drama. Celta de Vigo doubled the lead four minutes into the second period through Méndez. However, Betis then began a heroic deed. Borja Iglesias cut the lead four minutes later from the spot. Then, Fekir scored an absolute screamer from a free kick. And four minutes later, Víctor Ruiz scored in a set play. A great comeback to certify a fantastic 2021, as the Green and Whites have lost just two games so far this year.
