MATCH REPORT | Betis are defeated at Granada (1-0)

Real Betis Balompié lost today at Granada. The game was quite even and had chances for both teams, but the home side took their chances and got the three points.

The game began with high pace and intensity, and Granada had the first chance with a long range effort from Machís that Robles blocked. In the first 15 minutes, Betis were trying to have the ball and build up the attack, while the locals were pressing strong and looking for a more direct approach.

The game was quite even an open for chances for both sides, although none of them clear enough. The first for Betis came after a good collective play. Eventually, Pedraza received the ball on the left and gave a good pass to Guardado, whose effort went wide. Two minutes later, Azeez also missed the target on the other end.

Betis were moving the ball around well, but were quite imprecise in the decisive touches.

The second half went underway with no changes in any of the teams. A good start for Betis, controlling completely the first five minutes. Loren had the first after half time but his volley went over the bar. The next one was for Mandi, alone in the far post, but he couldn't find the net with an acrobatic header.

However, Granada hit first. Following a clear foul on Guardado that the referee let go, Vadillo scored. A minute later, the home team almost doubled the lead, but Azeez hit the post. The rebound was for Fernández, but he shot over the bar. The goal fell hard on the Green and Whites, who were now struggling.

With ten minutes left to play, Betis were pushing more now, while Granada defended well and tried to use counterattacks. Tello tried with a free kick that went over the bar. The same outcome had a shot from Emerson after a good team play.

Canales almost did it in yet another free kick that hit the crossbar. Unlucky.

The team tried until the end but it couldn't be.
