MATCH REPORT | Hard defeat at La Nucía (4-2)
Real Betis travelled to La Nucía with the target of giving continuity to the victory on Thursday over RCD Espanyol. Levante UD awaited there and were more efficient in attack and stronger in defence than their rival. The own mistakes made by the Green and Whites left the points in Valencia.
The team managed by Alexis Trujillo started well in the game, though, with several approaches on the other end that almost gave them the lead. Levante struggled for the first 20 minutes, having the control and the chances.
First, with a play by Fekir, whose shot was deflected wide by Fernández with his left foot. Even better was the next one, this time through Canales, who connected a volley to which the keeper responded with a great save. However, the team was unable to score them and soon started to pay the price.
Then, the good performance so far from the team faded away. Mayoral made a run following long ball from the defence, dribbled Bartra and beat Robles. The goal fell hard on the Green and Whites, who lost then all their offensive edge. In fact, the wound got bigger when Bardhi scored the second in another example of defensive fragility.
Just after the start of the second half, Fekir had a good chance and Juanmi got a goal correctly disallowed that made think that the team had started better after the break. But it was an illusion. First Morales and then Rochina scored two goals in a few minutes. In the final half hour, the Green and Whites showed some pride against a team that knew they were taking the three points. Canales cut the lead after a good assist from Feddal and Juanmi scored to close the score. The only positive news, as the player from Malaga netted for the first time after several months out due to a foot injury.
