MATCH REPORT | Victory at Mallorca (1-2)
Real Betis Balompié got their second win of the season in their visit to RCD Mallorca. In an intense game, two goals from Borja Iglesias, both from the penalty spot, gave the Green and Whites the three points.
The men managed by Manuel Pellegrini started pushing forward, looking to attack right from the beginning. Six minutes into the game, Battaglia clearly touched the ball with his hand inside the box. The referee did not whistle at the moment, but was advised by the VAR to check the play and then pointed to the spot. Borja Iglesias did not miss.
Mallorca then tried to push, in waves, but they did not put Rui Silva under pressure. In fact, the best chances were for Betis, with two good ones that could had increase the distance in the score.
Early in the second half. Mallorca tied the game up through Muriqi. This made Betis react, and the team again started to attack constantly. Due to that insistency, the second penalty of the evening came, when Battaglia tackled Fekir inside the area. Again Borja Iglesias took the responsibility to give the team the lead back.
The game then gained in intensity, with several players booked in both teams. Mallorca had some options, but Rui Silva responded very well in a couple of occasions. The Green and Whites also had a few chances to increase the lead, but the sore did not move anymore.
