MATCHREPORT | Stalemate in Ipurua (1-1)
Real Betis Balompié could not get the three points today against SD Eibar. The Green and White side took the lead early in the game with a great goal by Fekir. However, the home side tied up from the penalty spot. The team tried until the end and had several chances to win the game but the lack of accuracy paid a heavy price.
The match began with Eibar pressing strong and they had a couple of approaches, but the first chance was for Betis. Bartra tried from the distance but the ball went over the bar. In the seventh minutes, Fekir opened the score with a fantastic curled effort to the back of the net.
Five minutes later, Moreno almost made the second but his effort went just wide. It was Eibar who scored, though. A mistake in the beginning of a play and Edgar tackled Inui inside the area. Orellana did not miss from the spot. The goal gave the locals a push and Betis struggled for some minutes. Eventually, the team got back on their feet and started to have more control.
The second half began without changes in any of the teams. Five minutes after the break, Eibar had a great chance but León did not reach the ball with everything in his favour. After that play, Betis began to have the ball more and tried to attack constantly. Iglesias tried with a left-footed effort that Dmitrovic deflected. The striker did score after a good team play, but the VAR review showed he was slightly offside and the goal was disallowed. Betis continued trying and Dmitrovic made a great save to shot from Canales.
Two minutes after coming on, Loren sent a good volley not far from the crossbar. Joel saved the team, however, after a counterattack, the only weapon Eibar were using at this point. Near the end, Betis had two more clear chances. First, Dmitrovic denied Fekir with a good save. When it was almost done, Tello made a run and found himself in front of the keeper but sent his shot wide.
