MATCH REPORT | The negative streak continues (1-0)
Real Betis Balompié got another loss today against SD Eibar. The match was really even and open for both sides, with none of them being superior. Cote gave his team the lead, which ended being the only goal, just before half time. The Green and Whites tried harder in the second half and had many occasions, even a penalty, but the luck was not on the team's side today.
The game began with high pace and Kaptoum had the first chance within the first minute, but his shot was saved by Dmitrovic. Bartra saved the team a few minutes later blocking a shot from Orellana, who was in a really good position. Guardado almost scored later, finding a good save from Dmitrovic in the other end. Escalante replied with a header that Joel blocked. All these chances came in the first 15 minutes.
Eibar managed to score in a set play, but the goal was disallowed for a push by Sergio on Francis. Good call by the referee. The game got to the first 30 minutes with both teams really even. Orellana had the best so far, but Robles made a sensational intervention.
Two minutes before the end of the first half, Lo Celso produced a great curled effort that hit the post. However, in the injury time, Cote received the ball just outside the box and put it past Robles with a good effort.
The first minutes of the second half were of non-stopping pace, with the ball going from end to the other all the time. Betis had the first two chances but couldn't shoot on goal. The best came after nine minutes, when Loren made a good personal place and delivered a low cross towards the edge of the box. There, Guardado shot with his left foot, finding a great save from Dmitrovic.
A key moment in the game came a few minutes later. Loren was tackled inside the are by Ramis. The referee didn't whistle, but was advised by the VAR and he went to check the play in the screen. After doing it so, he pointed to the spot. Lo Celso shot the penalty but the keeper deflected it with his foot.
The final minutes were of Betis attacking relentlessly. Dmitrovic, probably the man of the match, denied two more times (first Bartra and then Jesé) and kept the three points at Eibar.
