Mel: “I congratulate my players, what happened today is human”

Pepe Mel analysed the match in a press conference. “The scores are always fair. We have been under a high pressure for 40 matches, and what happened today is human, it’s normal. It’s also normal that today they won the 50-50 challenges. I congratulate my players, what happened today is human,” he stated.

First half: “Tenerife struggled throughout the first half. They were timid, thinking about what was at stake and seeing the rival they had in front. The match was lacking competition; but in the second half Tenerife gave everything in I just wanted to congratulate them.”

First Division: “Betis is a First Division team, no matter what division the team is in. If you like the atmosphere here today, picture how it is in Villamarín Stadium with 40,000 people. We need to be accustomed to situations like this, and let’s hope that next year we recover the feeling of being a First Division team.”

Your stage in Tenerife: “I’m grateful and this club gave me the chance to play in First Division, so I’m happy that they are doing well. I wish they could be up there. Now, we have an important match against Sporting, so we need to work hard because we could be judges.”
